GIFCC resolves to promote Kargu Gamgi movement
ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The Galo Indigenous Faith and Cultural Council (GIFCC) in a general body meeting held on Dec 22 decided to act as the statutory body in promotion of Kargu Gamgi Movement, Indigenous faith and cultural revolutions etc. The Council will be vigilant in promoting, preserving and protecting Galo cultural heritage and indigenous belief systems etc, the meeting resolved. It further decided to conduct awareness tours to various Galo dominated villages and work for documentation of Galo culture, tribal languages, folktales, folklore, genealogy, folk dances, folk songs, arts and crafts etc, besides creating a conducive atmosphere for social and communal harmony. While inspecting each and every farmer’s potato field the team members expressed satisfaction over the farmers’ efforts who have planted potato with the tuber seeds supplied under the TSP scheme of the ICAR. The team also suggested different ways and means of planting to get higher production from the crop with the use of the available resources.
The team also strictly monitored the damages caused by insect pests and diseases which were not seen in their fields. Lastly, the team members encouraged them to work hard with the adoption of the new technologies transferred by KVK West Siang which are developed by ICAR to get higher production with the use of certified seeds.

HUNLI, Dec 23: Deputy Commissioner Shiv Kumar has paid a visit to KGBV Hunli on Dec 22. He was accompanied by Chilliko Meto, Zilla Chairman, Rakesh Tacho, SDO, Hunli, T. Tatak, DDSE, Roing and other HODs during his visit.
While keenly visiting the school including hostel, classroom, the DC was deeply impressed to see the functioning of the school in such a remote locality despite of unfavorable climatic condition and inhospitable terrains. He showered accolades to the School Management and teachers and the NGO Abralow Memorial Multipurpose Society for their excellent job in running the school despite of many odds and adversaries.

Chorus of outrage against Delhi gang rape reaches Itanagar, citizens take out candlelight march

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The chorus of anger and outrage against gang rape and subsequent brutal assault on a girl in a moving bus at Delhi reached state capital Itanagar as hundreds of people cutting across age and profession hit the street and took out a candle light march this evening to protest against the barbaric act. The rally being organized by National Alliance of Women (NAWO) and joined by large number of citizen was held in solidarity with the victim of Delhi gang rape, who is fighting for life at Safdarjung hospital, New Delhi.

Their concerned was simply the growing vulnerability of women in India. “We want to see every rapist be hanged till death” yielded a young girl.
While expressing anguish against growing crime rate particularly rape and murder, Jarjum Ete, President Galo Welfare Society who was instrumental in organizing the candle light march said “it is moral responsibility for every citizen to come out against such violence”.
The anguished can be also seen among senior citizens who participated in the rally. “People should unitedly raise voice against such crime and specific law should be enacted to deal with rapist” YD Thongchi President APLS.
APLS General Secretary Tokong Pertin also viewed that stringent punishment should be given against any person involved in such crimes. He further added that government should bring in specific amendment to deal with heinous crime like rape.
Arunachal is also witnessing rise in rape and murder. This year itself two minor girls was raped and brutally killed at Yazali and Tawang. Both were students and had bright future ahead of them. While police manage to arrest accused involved in Yazali rape case, the Tawang rape case is yet to be solved.

NES silver jubilee celebrated at Raga
RAGA, Dec 22: The second phase of Nyishi Elite Society (NES)’s silver jubilee celebration cum education tour with the theme “Nurturing Youth Energy and Harnessing Women Folk” was organized at Raga on December 22.
Addressing the huge gathering NES president Bengia Tolum expressed his displeasure over the present trend in which the students make it a target to become students leaders only for two to three years instead of becoming IAS, IPS and state civil service officer.
He advised the students to make long term plan for better life. “We should not encourage and give money to our child for contesting in the posts of President and Secretary of the union, rather should completely control and discourage such attempt,” Tolum advised.
He further called upon the fathers of the children to shoulder equal responsibility with mothers in educating their children. “We the father should also equally shoulder the responsibility in educating our children as they (children) are our future and future of the community,” Tolum said.
Speaking on the occasion local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Health and Family Welfare and Civil Supply Nido Pavitra said “the NES is the apex body of the Nyishi community, therefore, we agree, accept and follow its decision.” He further called upon all section of the community to extend support and cooperation to NES for greater interest of the community.

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The ‘Annual Day Celebration’ of Kristi Kendra Music Academy was held at Mahila Imadad Bhawan, Barapani, Naharlagun in a befitting manner today.

Bapna lauds NYP’s role in nation building

Rebuilding traditional irrigation in Afghanistan
The United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organisation is providing technical support to rebuild Afghanistan's traditional irrigation system to help farmers increase their crop production. The irrigation system had been badly damaged due to the conflict and migration from villages.
The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is boosting its technical support for the rehabilitation of Afghanistan's dilapidated traditional irrigation systems, in a bid to help farmers increase crop production. The initiative also aims to improve the knowledge and skills that farmers need to run and maintain irrigation systems.
The FAO has signed a $27.7 million agreement with the Afghan Ministry of Energy and Water to provide technical assistance, including expertise and training for implementation of the Irrigation Restoration and Development Project (IRDP).
Decades of war in Afghanistan and migration from rural areas have contributed to the degradation and neglect of the country's irrigation system. The lack of efficient irrigation facilities has left many farmers without sufficient water for agriculture, including the production of wheat, the country's main staple food crop. But in recent years, the country's Ministry of Energy and Water has placed a priority on water resources development within its National Development Strategy.
The irrigation systems had suffered over the past three decades, not only because of a lack of investment, but also because people were moving away from the rural areas, leaving no one to maintain the systems or transfer indigenous skills to the younger generation. When there was a flood, for instance, there was no one to repair or clean up damaged canals or dams. So farmers in rural areas were not able to get enough water to cultivate their fields. As a result, they produced fewer crops.

This is in reply to one Anand Jerang who has accused me of being arrogant, if at all I have been. To my memory I do not have the slightest idea of the so called interaction where I arrogantly behaved and asked the candidate to go to court which is the usual course of action if one feels injustice has been meted out to an individual. Yes, there was a mistake inadvertently, and the matter went to court, and later the case has been recommended to the Government. In this context in spite of our utter discretion errors do take place, we are human, and it is never our intention to discredit or do injustice to any candidate. We also have feelings and it hurts us when candidates miss out by just a fraction of points after all the hard work that one puts in to achieve ones dream career.
The Commission has only three Members as of now, and don’t tell me you cannot remember three names who are responsible for your future. At least have that much of courtesy; we are here for you and to do justice for the office we are entrusted with. You want to call me a blonde, I cannot do anything about it, you are entitled to your opinion and I'll accept it with all humility. About the wrong man in the right place I have no comments, you have the right to have your own opinion, and lastly I reiterate that I have not in any manner been arrogant as accused. In an unlikely circumstances, if I have hurt any individual in my course of action. I beg your pardon.

Reschedule the exam date
Dear editor,
Through the column of your, I would like to draw kind attention of the concern authority that the exam date for the Sub Inspector (S.I) post by the Police Department which is scheduled for 13th January, 2013 coincides with the exam date for the ACP (Assistant Conservator of Forest) post by A.P.P.S.C. which is scheduled from 12th January, 2013 to 20th January, 2013. In a state like Arunachal where there is no other job opportunity other than Govt. sector such kind of clash over exam date is going to hurt the interest of unemployed youth. So, unemployed youth of the state can’t take chance to lose any opportunity to get employed.
There are 365 days in a year; I want to ask to the concern authority “How you could not find a day which does not coincide with each other’s exam?” And its first time in the history of recruitment, a call latter has been dispatch before form submission date is over (i.e 28/12/2012) which is a records in itself.
Therefore, I would like to request the concern Department’s to reschedule exam date accordingly for the convenient of aspirants by taking consent of each other for the greater interest of unemployed youth.
